West Ham United director jets out to rescue Fabricio Bruno deal as he’s left on Flamengo bench

A West Ham United director is in Rio de Janeiro to look and try and secure a deal for Fabricio Bruno as they wait for a response from the defender, according to Vene Casagrande.

The Brazilian journalist has suggested that the move is in the hands of the Flamengo man as the club has already agreed to sell.

It is unclear which member of the Hammers’ hierarchy is in Brazil but it is clear they are keen to help push through a deal as soon as possible.

Bruno was left on the bench for Flamengo in their Copa Libertadores clash against Millonarios on Wednesday (29 May).

West Ham deal for Fabricio Bruno slows

The pursuit of the Brazilian has become public in recent weeks with a deal getting more likely in recent weeks.

This potential signing is the work of Tim Steidten who is looking to bring players in from foreign leagues for cheaper fees this summer.

If he is to join, it could prove to be a great start to the transfer window for the Hammers who are looking to build a squad under Julen Lopetegui.

Angelo Ogbonna looks set to depart at the end of his contract when his contract ends while there is a chance that Nayef Aguerd could be sold with Marseille interested.

Bruno has international experience in Brazil which is a bonus but there is a concern given that he hasn’t ever played in Europe.

With that being said he has good physicality while being useful on the ball which could make him a useful option in the Premier League.

Steidten will hope officials jetting out to Rio can make the deal progress quicker.

In other West Ham news, a senior Hammers player is wanted for a move to a rival Premier League side.
