West Ham United deal for Wes Foderingham ‘effectively agreed’ as Dharmesh Sheth drops update

West Ham have agreed a deal to sign Wes Foderingham on a free transfer with his medical already scheduled, according to Dharmesh Sheth.

The Sky Sports journalist claimed on 22 June that everything is agreed with the goalkeeper’s representatives as he’s set to leave Sheffield United at the end of the month.

He will move to the London Stadium on a two-year deal and be the club’s backup keeper.

Sheth told Give Me Sport: “It is now effectively agreed, it’s obviously a free transfer, he was at Sheffield United. His contract is up very, very soon, officially.

“Everything seems to be agreed now between West Ham United and Foderingham’s representatives, he’ll sign a two-year deal, have his medical, personal terms will be signed off, and he will become a West Ham United player to provide competition for the likes of Lukasz Fabianski and Alphonse Areola.”

Wes Foderingham’s signing makes a lot of sense for West Ham

Foderingham’s imminent arrival at the London Stadium is a significant addition to the squad, offering depth and versatility in the goalkeeping department.

As a seasoned professional with experience in the Premier League, the 33-year-old provides a reliable backup option for the Hammers’ first-choice keepers, Areola and Fabianski.

His signing on a free transfer is a cost-effective move for the club, ensuring financial prudence while enhancing squad depth.

Moreover, Foderingham’s familiarity with English football and his ability to adapt quickly make him a valuable asset for the Irons.

His signing also allows the club to focus on strengthening other areas of the team, knowing that the goalkeeping position is well covered.

It could also see the Hammers cashing in on Fabianski as it’s probably the last summer they can get a transfer fee for him.
