West Ham United deal for Nayef Aguerd held up by bonuses
West Ham have seen their bid for Rennes defender Nayef Aguerd his a stumbling block over potential bonuses, according to Ouest France [June 7].
The Hammers have been strongly linked to the Moroccan international centre-back, with reports from Fabrizio Romano that a deal was edging closer emerging earlier this week on June 4th.
But according to fresh reports in France, the two clubs were yet to reach an agreement as of Monday night [June 6] amid negotiations over bonuses in a deal that could reach up to €40m.

The bonuses are said to be at the heart of the negotiation and until they are agreed there will be no deal. With that said though, they do also say that the deal is on the right track and expect it to be done.
Aguerd is currently with the Morocco national team and an agreement could be held off until after that according to the report. ExWHUemployee has previously reported on his Patreon account that Aguerd has already taken pictures with the West Ham kit so an announcement can happen at any time.
Get it done
Too much haggling, not enough getting the manager what he wants so far in this window.
Obviously transfers are a long and difficult process and many fans sometimes believe it to be very similar to something like Football Manager, but that isn’t the case.
However there is a deal right there to be done for someone that David Moyes has identified as a primary target and yet the club are haggling over a few million pound in bonuses and incentives instead of completing a deal.

It’s likely to get done at some point according to the report, but it should be done already and the club could be working more intently on the next deal instead.
Hopefully this isn’t a sign of things to come for this summer as there is plenty of deals that need to be done in order for the club to take a step forward in the 2022/23 campaign.
