West Ham United could sign Abdou Diallo after Nordi Mukiele signs for Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed the signing of RB Leipzig defender Nordi Mukiele and that could open the door for Abdou Diallo to join West Ham United.

It was suggested by French news outlet Media Foot Marseille (27 July) that West Ham are interested in 26-year-old Diallo with Nayef Aguerd potentially out for three months.

PSG are looking for £17m for Diallo, who was a bit-part player for the Ligue 1 giants in the 2021/22 season.

However, after the club confirmed the signing of highly-touted Mukiele, 24, there is every chance that PSG will now be inclined to let Abdou depart the club.

The Hammers could potentially look for a value deal for Diallo with the Senegal international now very much out of the frame in Paris.

Adding a new defender to his ranks has now become of paramount importance for Moyes with Issa Diop potentially leaving the club in the coming weeks and Fulham interested.

The Hammers conceded a lot of soft goals towards the back end of last season and it was clear at the start of the summer where Moyes’ transfer priorities lay.

Aguerd was his prime target to improve his defence.

Now the Hammers are heading into the new campaign with a defence that is very similar to what they ended last season with.

Diallo would be a good option to cover Aguerd for the start of the season and it won’t break the bank to bring him to the London Stadium.

The club hierarchy should use Diallo’s position at PSG to their advantage and try their hardest to secure a cut-price deal to bring him to the London Stadium.
