West Ham United consider fourth bid for James Ward-Prowse after Southampton reject £30m offer

West Ham are considering a shock U-turn in their pursuit of James Ward-Prowse as they ponder making a fourth bid, according to The Athletic.

Writing on their official website (2 August), the news outlet report that the Hammers are considering making a new offer after seeing a bid worth £27m + £3m in add-ons rejected on Tuesday (1 August).

West Ham have already seen £20m and £25m bids rejected for the Southampton captain, and the third bid was said to be their “final” offer. However they are now considering going back in with a fresh bid to get the deal over the line.

“West Ham are considering a fresh approach for James Ward-Prowse after seeing a £30m offer for rejected by Southampton,” they wrote.

“A bid in the region of £27m plus £3m in add-ons has been knocked back by the Championship club, who are holding out for more for their club captain.”

Make a decision

We’re into the final month of the transfer window and the new season is less than two weeks away, and West Ham currently just look like idiots.

We sold our best player and captain for a record-breaking £105m fee, but have so far added absolutely nobody to the first-team squad and have seen a move for Carlos Borges hijacked after we dithered for too long.

Now we’ve threatened to walk away from a deal, made a bid, walked away from it for real and now are considering going back in all within a 24 hour time period.

The club need to make a decision on whether they want to sign Ward-Prowse or not, and then go through with it once and for all.

We simply don’t have the time to continuously dither when there are so many other players out there, and if we are set on getting Ward-Prowse in for Moyes then the club need to just pay up and shut up.

After all the talk surrounding Declan Rice this summer, they’re looking an awful lot like hypocrites right now. Pay up or move on.
