West Ham United coaches stance on Mubama emerges amid Man City transfer talks
West Ham United coaching staff are not convinced Divin Mubama will become a first-team regular in the Premier League, according to Sean Whetstone.
Whetstone, editor of 6foot2 and journalist for Claret & Hugh, reported on X [16 August] that the Hammers do not believe Mubamba can play regularly in the top-flight as he closes in on a move to Manchester City.
The 19-year-old is set to leave East London after failing to agree to a new contract, the Hammers are now negotiating with the Premier League champions on a compensation package for the forward.
West Ham United happy to let Mubama leave
West Ham fans had high hopes for Mubama heading into last season but, in his 12 appearances hardly showed the form worthy of a new deal at the London stadium.
A move to Man City after an underwhelming breakout campaign for the Hammers is a head-scratcher [Fabrizio Romano], Pep Guardiola must see something in the striker that the coaching staff in East London failed to spot.
His first team minutes will be limited even further as he now has to compete with Erling Haaland at the Etihad, he failed to move Danny Ings and Michael Antonio out of the way last term and stands no chance of displacing the Norweigan in Manchester.

Mubama is still young and will be able to learn from his new striker partner firsthand at the world-class facilities at the Etihad and with Julian Alvarez moving to Atletico Madrid, he will be the immediate second-choice striker and be one Haaland injury away from starting matches.
While Guardiola’s plan for Mubama is unclear, the move suits the Hammers and they move on a striker who failed to live up to his promise and moved further down the pecking order behind summer signing Niclas Fullkrug.
West Ham fans will wish him the best as he departs East London but few will hold their breath to see if he performs for Man City.
