West Ham United close in on double transfer swoop, bids tabled already
West Ham United are closing in on the double signing of Max Kilman and Kyle Walker-Peters, according to Knees Up Mother Brown.
Writing on their website (2 July), the news outlet report that the Hammers have tabled a player-plus-cash bid for the Southampton full-back while talks are ongoing for Wolves skipper Kilman to strengthen the defence.
Both players are open to a move to the London Stadium should deals be agreed with their respective clubs, as Julen Lopetegui looks to improve his squad after taking over from David Moyes.
West Ham United set for busy transfer window
Tim Steidten has been hard at work all summer so far, having already signed Luis Guilherme and Wes Foderingham and had several other bids go in for other players.
It’s clear now that the priority of the club is strengthen the defence after losing Ben Johnson and Angelo Ogbonna at the end of their contracts, while Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd’s futures remain up in the air [Hakim Zhouri, 11 May].
Kilman is someone who has been identified as a prime target in the middle, with Lopetegui even considering making him the captain [GiveMeSport, 1 July] should he join, and Walker-Peters has the versatility to play at right-back and left-back and would give the manager great options.

The transfer window isn’t even really in full swing just yet but Steidten and Lopetegui have acknowledged that they expect a busy summer so the sooner players are brought in the better for all involved.
Both of these transfers would make a lot of sense to boost the squad and fans should be excited that they’re closing in on getting them done.
In other West Ham news, a £17m development has emerged in the club’s move to sign a new defender.
