West Ham United close to breakthrough in double-swoop for Filip Kostic and Piotr Zielinski

West Ham United are “close” to a breakthrough on moves for Filip Kostic and Piotr Zielinski according to Bleacher Report journalist Dean Jones.

The Sun revealed on Friday 22 July that the Hammers have launched a bid to sign Kostic from Eintracht Frankfurt with the wing-back entering the final year of his current deal.

Furthermore, ExWHUemployee revealed on his Patreon on 24 July that the Hammers are actively trying to get a deal for Zielinski over the line.

Jones has suggested that the club are close to a breakthrough for both players.

He told GIVEMESPORT on Wednesday 27 July: “It feels like a significant week for West Ham as they bounce back from the [Jesse] Lingard news.

“While all eyes were on [Gianluca] Scamacca, they are also working hard on Kostic and Zielinski.

“It sounds like a breakthrough is close on both fronts.”

Hammers mean business

West Ham really do mean business after a relatively slow start in the transfer window.

Kostic would be a very intriguing signing at the London Stadium with the 29-year-old an attack-minded wing-back who thrives playing in a three-at-the-back system.

Bringing the Serbian international to the club would give David Moyes the option to play a variety of systems that could suit his new additions.

Scamacca has completed his move to the London Stadium and could thrive off of service from Kostic should he also follow him to East London.

West Ham

Zielinski is a player that is probably not a priority for Moyes to target at the moment with the club well-stocked in attacking midfield areas at present.

Manuel Lanzini, Jarrod Bowen, Pablo Fornals and Said Benrahma are all good options for Moyes to choose from.

The West Ham boss would be far better off looking at another central defender due to Nayef Aguerd’s injury or an additional central midfielder.

If the Hammers can get one of these deals over the line it would be excellent business.
