West Ham United close in on double transfer swoop for Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Reiss Nelson

West Ham United are closing in on a double transfer swoop for Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Reiss Nelson, according to TEAMtalk.

Writing on their website (18 July), the news outlet reports that Manchester United defender Wan-Bissaka is close to a move to the London Stadium, while the Arsenal winger has informed the Hammers he wants to join the club [TEAMtalk, 17 July].

Both players have long-term contracts waiting once deals are agreed with their clubs, with the hope that they will “join soon”.

West Ham United set for double transfer deal

Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten have been hard at work this summer with three transfers already secured with Luis Guilherme, Wes Foderingham and Max Kilman through the door.

But the belief is that there is still a lot of business to come and work to be done on the squad, so they’re pushing hard to get deals done simultaneously.

Pre-season is already underway for the Hammers so the quicker they can get new faces into the club the better, with the new Spanish coach looking to implement his style on the squad.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Aaron Wan-Bissaka could hold the key for West Ham and Manchester United this summer

Nelson would add fantastic depth to the wide positions, and with the attack very short on numbers that would be excellent, while Wan-Bissaka would come in and occupy the first-choice right-back spot.

Vladimir Coufal’s future is unclear [Athletic, 27 April] and after Ben Johnson left there is a big gap to fill, and the Manchester United man would be a perfect solution.

In other West Ham news, the club have made an approach to sign a new attacker.
