West Ham United chase AS Monaco defender Axel Disasi, Manchester United and Tottenham also in pursuit

West Ham are reportedly involved in a Premier League chase for AS Monaco centre-back Axel Disasi, along with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, according to the Daily Mail.

The 24-year-old has undergone a tremendous upward trajectory at the Ligue 1 giants having already made almost 200 club appearances for both Stade Reims and Monaco. Disasi was also rewarded with an international debut for France at the World Cup in Qatar, coming on as a substitute against Tunisia.

The Hammers have previously been linked with his services in the past with GiveMeSport journalist Dean Jones reporting [9 December] that the defender had been scouted by the East London outfit.

Multiple top-flight clubs have been mightily impressed with his development so far this season, and the Daily Mail [5 January] understands that Manchester United, Tottenham and West Ham are the Premier League clubs keeping tabs on the player.

The report goes on to state that the defender is expected to leave the Stade Louis II stadium either this month or in the summer.

Tempting

It is no secret that centre-back is a problem position for the Hammers with David Moyes constantly chopping and changing his options because of frequent injury troubles.

All of Angelo Ogbonna, Nayef Aguerd, Craig Dawson and Kurt Zouma have all endured spells on the sideline this campaign.

With rumours flying around surrounding the futures of Dawson and Ogbonna, it means Moyes will need some reliable centre-back signings in the summer. Disasi seems to fit the bill.

A strong, towering and composed presence on the ball, the French defender is on course to continue his great development wherever he ends up next, and the Hammers should act on their temptation and attempt to bring to East London, as he could become a leading figure for the club for a number of years.

It’s a great potential deal.
