West Ham United set to sign Max Kilman
It’s been a long time coming but this is a deal that Julen Lopetegui has really pushed for and Tim Steidten has finally delivered.
Central defence is a key area that needs strengthening with big questions marks over the future of Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd this summer [Hakim Zhouri, 11 May], while Angelo Ogbonna was allowed to leave at the end of his contract.
Several players in the position have been linked with the likes of Mats Hummels, Arthur Theate and Jean-Clair Todibo attracting interest too but Kilman was always the top target.
It’s a huge deal to get over the line and at £40million the club have managed to pay the fee most expected would be demanded of them for the player.
He immediately improves the team and knowing Lopetegui so well already, he should be able to make an immediate impact for the Hammers too.
