West Ham United bid accepted as Gianluca Scamacca agrees to London Stadium switch

West Ham United have had a £34million offer accepted by Sassuolo for striker Gianluca Scamacca with the Italy international saying “yes” to Premier League switch, according to Gazzetta journalist Alfredo Pedulla.

Pedulla reported on Thursday 14 July (via his personal website) that the Hammers’ initial offer for the 23-year-old will rise to £40million with add-ons.

It has been suggested by Pedulla that Scamacca has agreed to move to West Ham despite being keen to remain in Italy.

The Gazzetta journalist revealed that agreement could be completed “by the weekend”.

Wow

Have West Ham actually managed to lure one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers to the London Stadium?

This would be a huge statement of intent from the club with David Moyes’ striker hunt potentially nearer its conclusion.

This is the type of signing that will genuinely get Hammers fans excited about the new season and dreaming of competing for the top-six again.

The young striker is proven in Italy, has international experience and also has a physical presence that will suit the Irons style of play.

Furthermore, the signing of Scamacca will also give Michail Antonio some much-needed competition after the striker was brutally overplayed at times last season.

The club hierarchy must not be conservative in their contract negotiations for the Italy international.

A chance to sign a high-calibre player doesn’t come around often and this is a signing that could prove to be a long-term asset for the Irons going forward.

It appears the Hammers’ interest has made the forward doubt his move to PSG and now a move to the Premier League very much looks on the cards.

Let’s hope talks progress over the weekend and the Irons manage to pull off this marquee addition.
