West Ham United begin transfer poker for Niclas Fullkrug after new development
West Ham United have said that they will not increase their bid of £21.1 million for Niclas Fullkrug after fresh talks on 1 August, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Sky Germany journalist reported via X (1 August) that the Hammers are ready to start transfer “poker” with a deal for Jhon Duran at Aston Villa still in the background.
Borussia Dortmund are sticking by their valuation of £25.4million for the German international and the deal is resting on the shoulders of those at the German club.
West Ham United should increase their Niclas Fullkrug offer
It feels as if the interest in Fullkrug has come about all of a sudden, as, for the entirety of the window, the club have been vying for the transfer of Duran.
However, as the Villans were proving difficult to negotiate with, it seems that the club turned their attention away from the Colombia international.
Fullkrug was initially sceptical about the move due to West Ham not being involved in any European football this season.
However, after seeking advice from Julan Naglesmann, the German had his interest piqued.
The German national team manager told Fullkrug to take up the opportunity [Sky Germany, 1 August] and that his increased involvement with the Hammers could book him a place in his 2026 World Cup squad.
In addition, the fact that both Tim Steidten and Lopetegui feel that the 31-year-old is a far better option than Michail Antonio [1 August, West Ham Football], shows that the club are serious about their interest.
