West Ham United and Tammy Abraham news as fresh transfer update emerges
Tammy Abraham will not join West Ham United ahead of the August 30 transfer deadline, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Sky Sports journalist reported on X [28 August] that despite other reports, there are currently no negotiations between the two parties.
Plettenberg doubles down to share that the former Chelsea man has “other concrete options” aside from the London Stadium over the next 48 hours.
West Ham United don’t need Tammy Abraham
The Hammers are a team who have changed a lot since the end of the 2023/24 season. Not only do they have a new manager but they have also managed to bring in new talent to bolster their ranks across the board.
One of the most exciting transfers across the entirety of the Hammers’ window was the addition of Niclas Fullkrug [WHU, 6 August].
The German talisman was brought in for around £27million and was one of the key additions made by Julen Lopetegui.
Indeed, the Hammers do have the likes of Danny Ings and Michael Antonio amongst their ranks but due to things such as injuries and just general poor form, they failed to score more than 10 goals between them last season.
Although the addition of Abraham would help bolster their number nine ranks, due to his dwindling form over the past couple of seasons and his injury history, it feels as if it would be too much of a risk for the Hammers to make a move happen.
Hence why, the club don’t need yet another number nine, especially if both Ings and Antonio are still plying their trade for the club by the 30 August.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers have made a £16.6million bid for Richard Rios.
