West Ham United: Amadou Onana open to leave Lille this summer
Amadou Onana is open to leave Lille this summer as West Ham United continue with talks for the 20-year-old midfielder according to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth.
Foot Mercato revealed that West Ham are in contact with Lille over a move for the 20-year-old Belgium international and are set to make an improved bid after seeing their latest £25million offer rejected.
The Hammers could’ve received a boost, with Sheth revealing (via Twitter, 2 August) that there’s a growing feeling that the player is open to moving to the London Stadium this summer.
Superb addition
Bringing Onana to the London Stadium would be excellent business from David Moyes and the club hierarchy.
It’s been a superb window thus far for West Ham, with problem areas of Moyes’ squad being targetted and strengthened.
Three areas remain, with a left-back, another centre-half to cover for Nayef Aguerd and another central midfielder to provide some added depth.
Declan Rice, Flynn Downes and Tomas Soucek are the more defensive-minded options for Moyes to utilise in the midfield and with Downes yet to play Premier League football, another option would not be a bad thing for the club to look into.
Onana is only 20 and has already been capped by Belgium which demonstrates he is an immense talent.
He would be a long-term asset for the Irons and Moyes should certainly be looking to push through a deal for the midfielder.
With the 20-year-old keen on a move, this could be a move that accelerates in the coming days.
