West Ham United agree personal terms with Harry Maguire after Manchester United bid accepted, hold-up shared in deal
West Ham have agreed personal terms with Harry Maguire after having a bid accepted by Manchester United, according to Jacob Steinberg.
Writing on his personal Twitter account (14 August), the Guardian journalist reports that personal terms between the parties are agreed but there is a hold-up in the deal.
Maguire is currently negotiating a pay-off from Manchester United to leave, as he prepares to take a pay-cut to move to the London Stadium.
“West Ham have already agreed personal terms with Harry Maguire, hold-up is over his pay-off from [Manchester] United,” he wrote.
Excellent
There was some concern among the fan base that the reason this deal hasn’t progressed since a bid was accepted was because of Maguire’s wages.
He currently earns a lot of money at Old Trafford but we simply wouldn’t be able or willing to match it for him to come here, and that could easily have seen a deal collapse.

But Maguire clearly wants the move for more regular football and we have agreed terms with him, meaning the only delay in the deal is completely out of our hands and control.
It’s annoying considering deals were agreed for him and Ward-Prowse at essentially the same time, yet Ward-Prowse has already been announced as a new Hammers player while Maguire hasn’t even done a medical at this stage.
But thankfully fans can now rest easy that it’s not a hold up that is anything to do with us and hopefully the deal will be completed at some point this week before the clash with Chelsea at the weekend.
