West Ham United agree Luizao transfer as permanent exit now in works
West Ham have accepted a one-season loan offer from Corinthians for defender Luizao, according to Globo.
The Brazilian outlet reported [21 August] that the Hammers are now discussing the values and percentages of the purchase option that could be placed in the 22-year-old’s contract.
The two parties have until 2 September to complete the deal, even after the Premier League transfer window closes on 30 August, with Brazil’s window closing at the beginning of next month.
Luizao set to leave West Ham United after two seasons?
The Brazilian centre-half has failed to make a telling impact since arriving at the London Stadium in December 2022, playing most of his football with the youth teams.
He has made 43 appearances for the Under-21s, scoring on five occasions, but was never been able to make the step up to the first team during David Moyes’ tenure.
Luizao has yet to make his first-team debut, and he may never get that opportunity if his loan spell in Brazil goes well and Corinthians trigger the buy clause in his contract.
The 22-year-old showed plenty of promise before making the move to England, having made 20 appearances for Sao Paulo in Brazil’s top division, even scoring once.
However, with other academy products coming through the ranks, and Julen Lopetegui adding some much-needed defensive reinforcement to the squad, senior minutes are bound to be limited this season.

Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo have been signed to bolster the backline, with Kurt Zouma, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Nayef Aguerd either linked with an exit, failing their medicals or keen to move away.
Luizao is one of the signings from South America, Tim Steidten’s favourite scouting destination, that has failed to work out at the London Stadium, but they could still get a decent fee in return if his loan spell is successful.
In other West Ham news, Fabrizio Romano has shared the Hammers’ transfer “priority” before the window closes.
