West Ham United agree fee with Newcastle United for Harrison Ashby sale, medical expected – Dharmesh Sheth
West Ham right-back Harrison Ashby is expected to make his way to the North-East to undergo a medical with Newcastle United, according to Dharmesh Sheth.
The Sky Sports News journalist reported on Twitter on Sunday (29 January) that Newcastle have agreed a fee to sign the 21-year-old from West Ham.
It is understood that the Magpies will pay £3million for the Scottish youngster and that includes any potential add-ons.
Sheth claims that West Ham have also moved to add a sell-on clause in the deal, which means they could profit further from Ashby’s sale in the future.
Small boost
It’s not a lot of money but it’s £3million for someone who wasn’t in the picture under David Moyes and that £3million could become more in the future thanks to that sell-on clause.
It remains to be seen how this signing will work out for Newcastle because if we’re honest, we cannot see why they’ve been trying to sign Ashby for so long.
He’s 21 years old but has only played seven times in the West Ham senior squad, with only two of those appearances coming this season in the Europa Conference League.

It could be a case of them just padding out their squad with homegrown talent but either way, they have the money to be able to do that without much risk involved.
As for West Ham, that £3million could help us sign a player in the dying stages of this January transfer window because Moyes is in desperate need of a new centre-back.
Craig Dawson hasn’t been replaced so if Michail Antonio is also offloaded in the coming 48 hours, that could really give Moyes some money to work with for a late centre-back addition.
We wish Ashby the best at Newcastle.
