West Ham United ace Mohammed Kudus earmarked as ideal Arne Slot signing at Liverpool

ESPN commentator Ian Darke has named West Ham United ace Mohammed Kudus as the ideal first signing for Arne Slot at Liverpool.

Darke was asked to name one player each Premier League club should sign in the summer transfer window, which officially opens next week.

Kudus only arrived at London Stadium a year ago from Ajax, with whom he was in direct competition against Slot’s now former side Feyenoord.

Writing for ESPN’s website [6 June], Darke said: “New manager Arne Slot will know all about West Ham’s superb Mohammed Kudus.

“He was in the Ajax team facing Slot’s Feyenoord in the Netherlands. Kudus is a menace and strikes me as a Liverpool-type player.”

Liverpool must think twice about Mohammed Kudus pursuit

West Ham are now accustomed to having a player linked with a switch to Anfield, having had this previously with Jarrod Bowen.

Jurgen Klopp made no secret of the fact he was a huge fan of Bowen’s, but nothing came of the interest and the German has now departed.

Kudus could well be on Slot’s list of targets for the reason outlined by Darke in that he has seen the Ghana international up close.

Wanting to sign him is one thing; doing so is another. West Ham are under no pressure to sell and his £85million release clause has yet to kick in.

Instead, Julen Lopetegui – himself still yet to settle in at his new Premier League club – will want to strengthen the squad rather than weaken it.

Kudus had a strong first season at London Stadium and there is no reason why supporters should fear losing him anytime soon.
