West Ham transfer round-up: Potter closing in on a striker, plus Todibo update
West Ham United are still scouring the market to find some new talent to add to their ranks before 3 February.
Graham Potter will be keen to get his tenure off to a good start with a couple of areas among his squad looking somewhat weak at the moment.
As plenty of deals are being considered at the London Stadium, West Ham Zone has rounded up all the news from 29 January.
Tottenham now see West Ham-linked Angel Gomes as a ‘prime target’
Daniel Levy is now “in talks” with former Manchester United man Gomes about a move in the winter transfer window after the Hammers refrained from doing the same until the summer.

The attacking midfielder has been linked with a number of clubs since the window opened, including the Hammers, after he was called up to the England national team squad for the first time in 2024.
Spurs are prepared to offer a fee for Gomes despite his contract expiring at the end of the term which is why they’ve now become the ones in pole position.
Jean Clair-Todibo is once again wanted by Juventus
At the moment, Jean Clair-Todibo is ruled out of the Hammers’ starting XI due to injury but that hasn’t stopped Juventus from showing their interest in the Frenchman once again.
The Old Lady are looking for defensive reinforcements to take on loan for the second half of the season with Todibo seen as an ideal candidate for Thiago Motta.
Motta prefers a move for Todibo over the likes of Lloyd Kelly but Juventus are reluctant to include an obligation to buy in their deal.
Carney Chukwuemeka is not on his way to West Ham United
Juventus are once again popping up in the Hammers’ sights as both the Serie A side and Potters men have taken an interest in acquiring the services of Chelsea ace Carney Chukwuemeka.
The 21-year-old has chosen Juventus as his preferred team to play for with Douglas Luiz likely on his way out of Turin after only arriving in the summer.
This means that even though the midfielder was put up for sale by Chelsea, it’s unlikely that a move to the London Stadium will be completed.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to return to the Premier League?
In a surprising turn of events, the Hammers have once again been linked with a move for Besiktas midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in a loan deal for the second half of the season.
The deal could include an option to buy with Potter wanting to get a deal over the line before the 3 February deadline.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has a desire to return to England with the only “obstacle” being that one of James Ward-Prowse or Tomas Soucek would have to make way so there’s room for him in the team.
Baris Alper Yilmaz to West Ham United could be back on
Galatasary forward Baris Alper Yilmaz has been linked with a London Stadium switch for some time now with Potter’s men reportedly making a bid that was worth upwards of £25million for the forward.
This resulted in the Turkish outlet rebuffing their offer and telling them to come back at the end of the season.
While a move before 3 February seems to be off the table, that doesn’t mean it isn’t something that can be revisited in the summer.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers could be set to lose another senior behind-the-scenes figure after Tim Steidten.
