West Ham ‘to learn from Chelsea mistake’ as approach made for wonderkid
West Ham United have developed a reputation over the years for unlocking the potential of multiple young players.
Declan Rice came through West Ham’s academy, eventually becoming the captain before he departed for Arsenal.
Frank Lampard also went on to become a Premier League great as he swapped West Ham for Chelsea back in 2001, to name just a couple high-profile examples.
Now, Graham Potter is aiming to repeat this feat as he targets young, upcoming players this summer.

West Ham hold talks with Stade Reims’ Adama Bojang
Due to West Ham’s PSR concerns, Potter has to be smart in the transfer window if he wants to improve his squad.
Therefore, according to the Sunday People print edition (15 June, page 58), the Hammers are eyeing Stade Reims’ Adama Bojang.
The report states that the 21-year-old is considered “one of the best African talents of his generation” after impressing in France.
Bojang spent this season on loan to Swiss side Grasshopper, where he netted six times in 27 appearances.

However, after Reims’ relegation to Ligue 2, an opportunity has opened up for West Ham to sign the youngster.
Bojang was previously wanted by Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea. However, the latter club refused to up their bid from £1million to £3m, resulting in his move to France.
Now, West Ham are preparing to learn from Chelsea’s mistake, with talks held this week over a move.
While Reims are reluctant to sell the forward, the French club face being raided after their relegation.

Bojang would be an excellent addition at the London Stadium
If West Ham were to sign Bojang, there is no doubt that the Gambia star would be an excellent addition.
The 21-year-old is likely to be available for a low price after Reims’ drop into Ligue 2 and has already achieved multiple feats early in his career.
For West Ham, it is a no-risk signing and could prove to be a useful back-up at the London Stadium next season as he develops further.
Hopefully, Potter can get the signing of Bojang over the line before other clubs enter the race for his signature.
