West Ham set to make transfer history in El Hadji Malick Diouf pursuit
West Ham United look to be closing in on a record-breaking signing this summer.
Potential PSR complications could be to blame for West Ham’s lack of spending so far, but that looks set to change.
Charlie Cresswell has been linked with a move to the London Stadium and would be an exciting young addition to Graham Potter’s defence.
Potter could face complications, however, before his first full season in charge in East London, with Mohammed Kudus being rumoured to be leaving E20.

Diouf to join West Ham for Czech record fee
Slavia Prague defender El Hadji Malick Diouf looks to be edging closer to signing for West Ham after the Irons have shown interest in the 20-year-old left-back.
The Senegal international would be a shrewd signing for Potter, particularly when considering Emerson Palmieri is said to be unhappy at the club.
For West Ham to secure their man, they must pay £21.5million (€25m), according to Denik Sport on X (3 July).
This fee would be the highest in the Czech First League’s history for a player, beating the previous record of £12.5m (€16.5m) Tottenham Hotspur paid for goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky.
The report adds that discussions are now at the final stages to seal a deal that has been long awaited.
With Aaron Cresswell’s time at West Ham also coming to an end this summer, this has made signing Diouf even more important for Potter.
El Hadji Malick Diouf | Stats (Chance Liga 24/25 season) |
Appearences | 27 |
Goals | 7 |
Assists | 2 |
With Aaron Wan-Bissaka providing defensive solidarity on the right, this could give Diouf a license to bomb forward for the Hammers next season.
More signings are needed for Potter
If Potter wants to propel West Ham back up the table and challenge for the European positions again, then more signings will be necessary.
Rocco Reitz could prove to be an important part of this rebuild if the East London outfit can secure the midfielder’s signature.
If Potter does get backed with his signings and still gets off to a poor start to the new Premier League campaign, then there will be no excuses.
If results do not go his way, then he could be one of the first Premier League managers to lose his job next season amid pressure from the fanbase.
