West Ham set for Guido Rodriguez wage relief as January transfer opens up
Guido Rodriguez’s underwhelming West Ham career could be coming to an end in January.
David Sullivan sanctioned the free signing of Rodriguez in the summer of 2024, but the midfielder has failed to make himself a regular starter since joining from Real Betis.
Nuno Espirito Santo has experimented with Rodriguez this season, but clearly is in favour of Freddie Potts and Soungoutou Magassa to control West Ham‘s midfield.
Following the latest update from Italy, the Hammers could finally be given a solution for their unused Argentine.

Juventus track West Ham’s Guido Rodriguez
Rodriguez played the bulk of his football at the London Stadium under Julen Lopetegui, and has not been able to impress Graham Potter or Nuno since.
West Ham’s midfield is looking good for the next couple of years, and the ageing 31-year-old hasn’t convinced many supporters that he is someone to trust in the middle of the park.
Rodriguez has been linked away from West Ham in the past, but the latest update suggests his new suitors are keen on wrapping a deal up in January.
- Rodriguez has played 30 times in total for West Ham
- That includes just 18 Premier League starts
- Rodriguez has previously been linked with a move back to Club America
According to Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus “likes” the idea of bringing Rodriguez to the Allianz Stadium in January.
It’s been suggested that Juve have kept tabs on the Argentine for a while and have reportedly taken information on him.
Whether the Serie A giants want the defensive midfielder on a permanent deal or a loan move is unknown at this stage.

Given the direction that Rodriguez’s West Ham career seems to be going in, Sullivan will be tempted to cash in on the midfielder, who is still on high wages.
Rodriguez is costing West Ham £75,000 per week
Even though Rodriguez didn’t cost the Hammers a single penny in transfer fees, Sullivan pays the Juventus-linked man £75,000 per week.
This approximately works out to be £3.9million per year, which is not healthy given the Irons’ current financial problems.
Rodriguez’s contract runs out next summer, but West Ham holds the option to extend his deal for a further year, and could do so given the interest.
Regardless, West Ham now have the perfect opportunity to get rid of Rodriguez, as there won’t be many other clubs as big as Juventus that will be able to afford his high wages.
