West Ham send ‘clear signals’ to sign Oscar Mingueza as transfer fee already known

West Ham are one of several Premier League clubs to be linked with Celta Vigo star Oscar Mingueza.

Transfer talk has started to ramp up ahead of January, and Mads Hermansen is being tipped for a West Ham exit, with Niclas Fullkrug now likely to leave E20.

The Hammers’ worst nightmare could come true if Lucas Paqueta leaves West Ham following speculation, but transfer fees could help raise funds to sign Mingueza.

In 2023, West Ham were linked with Mingueza, as the versatile Spaniard has enjoyed a spectacular start to the season in La Liga.

Now, further reports are suggesting that the Hammers have kept tabs on their long-admired target, with a bid impending.

West Ham in battle with Newcastle and Aston Villa for Oscar Mingueza

Nuno Espirito Santo has outlined his vision to improve West Ham, but he is going to need help from David Sullivan.

West Ham have slipped into a relegation battle, and Mingueza could be the key to getting the Hammers out of trouble.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, West Ham have sent “clear signals” of their intent to submit a proposal for Mingueza, with Newcastle and Aston Villa readying offers.

It’s also confirmed that Celta Vigo have a set £20m release clause in Mingueza’s contract, and will likely hold out for that fee after turning down offers in the region of £12m-£14m in the summer.

West Ham may need to act fast as the Spanish side may still offer the defender a new deal, which would increase his asking price.

Mingueza’s versatility could be key for West Ham

Nuno has chopped and changed his West Ham side in almost every game he’s had in charge of the Hammers so far.

Mingueza has primarily featured as a left midfielder this season, but the ex-Barcelona star can also play either left-back or right-back.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has divided opinion this campaign, and Mingueza could come in as direct competition for not only him but the likes of Malick Diouf and Kyle Walker-Peters.

Mingueza has featured four times for the Spanish national team, and would surely prove a huge coup from Sullivan and Co. if they manage to pull this off.
