West Ham United transfer update emerges on James Ward-Prowse deal
West Ham have had another bid worth £27m plus £3m in add-ons rejected for Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse, but the deal could still be made despite threats to walk away, according to journalist Jack Rosser.
The Sun journalist has shared that West Ham have once again threatened to walk away from the deal, but both David Moyes and Ward-Prowse want the deal to go through.
This news comes following a report by talkSPORT [2 August] that the Hammers’ latest bid for Ward-Prowse was a final “take-it or leave-it” offer, with Rosser sharing that Moyes wants to add more Premier League experience to his squad.
The club need to do this deal
West Ham need to make the deal for Ward-Prowse work, even if that means paying a figure they view as an overpayment. The club are notoriously stingy in the transfer market, with multiple low-ball offers delivered so far this summer, but this is one they can’t afford to miss.
With just under two weeks left until the Premier League season kicks off, the Hammers are yet to do a single transfer deal, despite seeing Declan Rice leave the club for £105million almost a month ago.
Ward-Prowse clearly stands out as Moyes’ top transfer target this summer. His leadership honed through years of captaining Southampton in the Premier League, 10 years of top-level experience, and a wicked set-piece delivery are all attributes Moyes looks for in a player.

He would slot straight into the team at the London Stadium and has a full pre-season under his belt at Southampton, so there will be no fitness issues.
Everybody is aware of the massive sum of money West Ham has received, so players are going to cost them a premium, but it is a premium they will have to pay to land their key targets.
In other West Ham news, a blockbuster move has been made for a key transfer target.
