West Ham to inflict more misery on Sheffield Wednesday amid Pierce Charles update

West Ham are in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer.

With doubts over the future of Alphonse Areola, the Irons have been scouting the market for a new keeper ahead of the Premier League campaign.

Aaron Ramsdale was one to have been linked earlier this summer, though the Southampton shotstopper is edging closer to a move to Newcastle after they missed out on James Trafford.

Now, West Ham have turned their focus elsewhere, with a new update emerging on the future of Pierce Charles at Hillsborough.

Graham Potter wants to bring Charles to London Stadium

Sheffield Wednesday are having a rough summer, with a series of issues caused by the ownership situation under Chansiri.

They have been forced to part ways with several first-team players, including their four top scorers from the previous campaign.

Now, West Ham are looking to cause more damage, having registered an interest in signing 20-year-old keeper Charles, according to The Star (29 July).

The Owls are reluctant to sell Charles, but the report adds that West Ham are set to test the resolve of the Championship club.

Rangers have also been linked with a move this summer, though the Owls look set to do everything they can to keep him at the club.

West Ham still need a lot more this summer

Signing a striker is going to be crucial, but the Hammers still have a lot of work to do with the squad across several areas.

After such a poor Premier League campaign last time out, it is evident that the current squad is far away from where it needs to be if West Ham are to start progressing.

Sunderland play host to the Irons in just a few weeks, and it is imperative that West Ham add some more quality to their squad before then.
