West Ham ready John Stones transfer amid major Man City exit news

West Ham have a lot of work to do in the summer transfer window, but they could now attempt to pull off a huge transfer.

Graham Potter’s side are in 17th place in the Premier League after a dismal season, and the Englishman will want to recruit well in the summer in order to turn their fortunes around.

West Ham have been weak in defence, and could look to strengthen their back line, and Manchester City centre-back John Stones has now been targeted in an ambitious move.

Stones has been a key performer for Pep Guardiola’s side, but the England star could find himself heading for the exit door at the Etihad Stadium.

Stones linked with West Ham move

Stones has impressed over the years, winning six Premier League titles, but his injury record has let him down at times, and this could mean he ends up at the London Stadium this summer.

It has now been reported by TBR Football (1 May) that Man City higher-ups are frustrated at Stones’ constant injury issues, and that they could look to sell him this summer.

The 30-year-old has one year remaining on his contract, and it remains to be seen what kind of fee will be needed to land him.

West Ham have been named as one of three Premier League clubs, alongside Brighton and Everton, as interested suitors for Stones, while Juventus and Saudi Pro League sides are also keen.

Stones would be a risky signing for West Ham

Although Stones has a lot of quality and experience, his injury issues must serve as a huge red flag for West Ham.

The centre-back has made just 11 appearances in the Premier League this season as he constantly suffered from injury setbacks, and this has been a theme throughout his career.

West Ham invested heavily in Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo at centre-back, but while they could certainly benefit from extra quality, Stones’ wages and injury record may make a deal impossible.

At 30, Stones may not be a smart long-term signing either, and should he arrive and continue to suffer from injuries, West Ham would likely regret a deal later down the line.
