West Ham ready ‘ambush’ for £30.2m transfer after what officials did

West Ham United are already laying the groundwork to strengthen their squad for next season.

The Irons have all but confirmed their status in the Premier League next season, as they only need five more points from their remaining six games to avoid relegation.

West Ham may not even need that, as Ipswich have to win five of their last six matches to go above them in the table, meaning Graham Potter essentially has nothing to play for now.

Therefore, it is no surprise that the East London outfit are already working on signings for the summer transfer window.

West Ham insistent on signing striker

It has been evident for a while that West Ham will sign a new centre-forward this summer, with Niclas Fullkrug, Michail Antonio and Danny Ings scoring only five goals between them.

Antonio and Ings run out of their contracts at the end of the season, while Evan Ferguson is also expected to return to Brighton when his loan deal expires.

It appears the Hammers have zeroed in on their favoured candidate to strengthen their goalscoring options, with Baris Alper Yilmaz emerging as a firm target.

West Ham are ‘stubborn’ about signing Yilmaz despite having a £21.6million offer rejected by Galatasaray in the winter transfer window, according to Turkiye.

The Turkish newspaper reported via their website on Monday (14 April) that Potter’s side were forced to shelve their interest in the striker after Galatasaray insisted that they would only consider selling him at the end of the season.

With the campaign drawing to a close, the Premier League club are now preparing an ‘ambush’ to acquire the 24-year-old’s services.

West Ham are ready to make a new offer for Yilmaz after scouting him on multiple occasions and sending officials to watch him several times.

Galatasaray, for their part, are willing to sell the Turkey international for £30.2m.

Yilmaz wanted by Nottingham Forest

West Ham are ready to push Galatasaray to their limits to rope Yilmaz in ahead of next season.

However, they are not the only club interested in signing the centre-forward as Nottingham Forest and Napoli are also in the mix.

Both those clubs will likely be able to offer Champions League football to Yilmaz.

Therefore, it remains to be seen if the Irons can convince the 11-goal hitman to join them.
