West Ham ready £20m bid to sign Carlos Soler amid Tomas Soucek exit twist

West Ham are readying a £20million bid to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Carlos Soler, according to The Mirror.

The newspaper reported via their print edition on Thursday (15 August, page 52) that Julen Lopetegui has been a long-term admirer of the 27-year-old Spain international and is “pushing hard” to sign him before the transfer window closes on 30 August.

However, it is understood that the Irons will need to sell Tomas Soucek, who’s been with the Irons for four-and-a-half years, before they can sign Soler to make space in their squad.

The Mirror adds that ex-Valencia midfielder Soler would rather move to the Premier League than join Real Sociedad, who are also keen on signing him.

Who will West Ham United sign next?

It’s been a very busy summer at the London Stadium with many fans, pundits and journalists praising the Hammers for the work they’ve done ahead of the new Premier League season.

However, they’re clearly not done yet with Lopetegui and Tim Steidten now thinking about adding another new central midfielder to the mix.

Guido Rodriguez has already arrived on a free transfer after leaving Real Betis and it seems Soler could also join if all goes well with this supposed £20million bid.

However, the Irons already have some good options in the midfield in James Ward-Prowse, Edson Alvarez, Tomas Soucek and the aforementioned Rodriguez.

If Lopetegui is only going to start two defensive or central midfielders each game, he cannot really have five star options and selling Soucek makes more sense than selling the others, who have all arrived in the last year or os.

Soler is at the peak of his career and has an abundance of experience having played 226 times for Valencia, 63 times for PSG and 14 times for Spain.

He’d be a very good signing for the Irons.
