West Ham ready £17.5m transfer bid after Nuno Espirito Santo and David Sullivan talks

West Ham United could soon make a move for Norwich City striker Josh Sargent in the winter transfer window.

The Hammers will prioritise signing a new striker in January and have identified the USA international as a target after talks between Nuno Espirito Santo and David Sullivan.

Nuno could potentially lose Niclas Fullkrug in the coming weeks, leaving the Portuguese manager with Callum Wilson and Callum Marshall as his only two natural options in the number nine position.

It doesn’t look like Ivan Toney will be moving to the London Stadium from Al-Ahli, and it will be interesting to see who the Irons will end up getting to bolster their attack.

West Ham preference emerges amid Josh Sargent links

Norwich are aware that the Hammers are interested in Sargent and value him at around £17.5m, according to GiveMeSport.

The news outlet reports on 12 December that the Irons have had the centre-forward on their radar for a while and are now looking to make a concrete approach with a bid at the London Stadium.

It’s been claimed that the East London outfit want to sign a striker with strong physicality and experience of English football, which the 25-year-old possesses.

After players from overseas have failed to live up to expectations in E20, it’s no surprise to see the recruitment department eye someone like Sargent.

Wilson has done well after a slow start at the London Stadium, but the Hammers clearly need a new goalscorer in their ranks to boost their hopes of survival in the Premier League.

Niclas Fullkrug mistake could come back to haunt Nuno Espirito Santo

Nuno should look to keep Fullkrug at least until the end of the season, as the Germany international provides the much-needed physicality the Irons are looking for.

While the former Borussia Dortmund star has been dreadful for West Ham, with his consistent fitness issues particularly frustrating, he can still contribute immensely during the relegation battle.

The 32-year-old is capable of contributing some important goals in the coming months, with his hold-up play one of his strongest attributes.

Even if the East London outfit bolster their attack in January, there’s no guarantee the new players will hit the ground running at the London Stadium, making Fullkrug’s continuity in E20 the sensible thing.
