Nuno Espirito Santo got his selection call wrong as West Ham United were held 1-1 by Queens Park Rangers on Friday night.

The Hammers are now three games without a win in all competitions after slipping up at home to one of their London rivals.

Jarrod Bowen cancelled out a hugely contentious Nicolas Madsen penalty, but he missed a spot-kick of his own late on as the game finished level.

Not for the first time of late, Nuno made a couple of changes at the break with his side trailing.

Kyle Walker-Peters and the returning Tomas Soucek were replaced by Pablo and Edvin Austbo.

But it is a player who was not selected at all by Nuno who could now force a move away in January.

Nuno Espirito Santo makes point loud and clear

With a number of players away on international duty, it was always going to be interesting to see which XI Nuno went for on Friday.

In the end just one change was made, as Soucek came in for Joel Piroe on the back of the 2-2 draw against Millwall three weeks ago.

Not only was the Mexico international not in the starting line-up, he was also not in the matchday squad.

Now, as per Spanish outlet AS, Alvarez "appears forced to look for a new club" after Nuno's latest snub.

The fact Alvarez was once again overlooked, despite making himself available, means he "could start to reconsider his future" once again.

The report adds that Alvarez "could begin to look for new destinations" ahead of the January transfer window.

Alvarez's only appearance for West Ham this season came in a first-round clash against Portsmouth in the Carabao Cup two months ago.

The unexpected possibility for Edson Alvarez after 'significant' West Ham update

Who could Edson Alvarez join?

Alvarez being overlooked around the time he was being linked with a summer exit was justified.

However, leaving him out of the squad entirely right now is just bizarre and does not reflect well on Nuno in this underwhelming patch of form.

Alvarez has recently been touted as a target for Valencia, who are now managed by his former Mexico boss Javier Aguirre.

Valencia are not the only LaLiga side to have been linked, and it seems a move to Spain does seem the most natural move for Alvarez.

With his 29th birthday a couple of weeks away, Alvarez should be entering the peak of his career right now.

Instead, he finds himself not even good enough - on the face of it, at least - for a place in West Ham's squad.

Something has to change.
