West Ham now in talks over yet another exit after Taty Castellanos arrival
West Ham’s early January transfer business has opened the door for several exits.
Pablo Felipe was West Ham’s first January arrival, as the Hammers look to address the attacking concerns that have lingered over what has been a dreadful Premier League campaign.
On Monday, the arrival of Taty Castellanos was announced, seemingly as a replacement for Niclas Fullkrug, who departed to join AC Milan.
However, the Hammers aren’t done there in terms of outgoings, with another forward expected to be moved on in the coming weeks.
West Ham forward set for London Stadium exit
With Fullkrug having failed to impress, Callum Wilson was given the chance to stake a claim for his place in the starting 11, though his lack of influence often led to Nuno Espirito Santo opting to play without a recognised striker.
Now, with the arrival of Pablo and Castellanos, doubts have started to emerge over Wilson’s future, especially given the fact that his contract is up at the end of the season.
Roshane Thomas has since reported that the former Newcastle star is in talks with West Ham over an exit, despite only joining five months ago.
Following the exit of Luis Guilherme to Sporting, Wilson could become the third West Ham attacker to depart within the first week of the January window.
Callum Wilson exit would be a huge gamble for West Ham
Wilson hasn’t set the Premier League alight this season, but he has offered something that very few attackers at the London Stadium are capable of – Premier League experience.
Even then, the 33-year-old has contributed with four goals and an assist in just eight starts, and just 810 minutes of Premier League action.
Both Pablo and Castellanos certainly have the potential to be major upgrades, but given their lack of experience in England, it would be a huge gamble to move Wilson on, unless something else is in the pipeline.
The Hammers still have a lot of business to be done if they are to steer clear of the bottom three, and the arrival of players with Premier League experience may prove to be crucial.
