West Ham news round up: Elliott opens door as Bowen told to leave now

West Ham could be set to ramp up their transfer business in the coming days.

Graham Potter is keen to strengthen in several areas after a miserable start to his reign in East London.

The Hammers need reinforcements across the pitch, and it will be interesting to see whether they can sort out all of their needs before the deadline.

West Ham set to play away from London Stadium

The Irons may be set to play away from the London Stadium in the near future.

London has bid to host the World Athletics Championships in 2029 and the Hammers’ home stadium will be a key venue if it is successful.

Keir Starmer, the UK Prime Minister, is among those who are backing the bid.

West Ham to take ‘gamble’ on Wilson

West Ham have started talks with Callum Wilson‘s representatives ahead of a potential free transfer.

The Hammers need attacking reinforcements, and the former Newcastle man fits the bill, but he cannot be the only addition up top, according to Ian Darke.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, the iconic commentator said: “Wilson, even at 33 years old, is a good quality bloke to have on board, but he can’t be the main striker because he misses so many games with injury.

“Use him as a squad player, that would be the way to go.

“It is a gamble worth taking on a free, so long as they have other good striking options”

Elliott opens door to West Ham move after Liverpool admission

Harvey Elliott is a potential signing for West Ham this summer.

The 22-year-old struggled for game time at Liverpool last season, and Potter’s side could take advantage of his situation on Merseyside.

Elliott admitted that he may need to leave Anfield to achieve his goals within the game

Speaking to Anfield Wrap (24 July), he said: “I have big ambitions. I want to go to the World Cup. I want to keep being successful as a player.

“I think it’s still something I need to review. I need to have a talk with everyone, really and review the situation because we’ve had many new players come in, so whether it blocks the path for me, I’m not sure, it’s something I need to decide and have a look at.

“My main focus is here now. At the moment I’m here for the season, as far as I’m aware, unless anything changes, we have a busy pre-season, it’s non-stop, I need to make sure I’m focused on that and just be ready for everything.”

Antonio makes Bowen exit claim at West Ham

Michail Antonio is a West Ham legend, but he has suggested that Jarrod Bowen should leave the club.

The 27-year-old has been the hero for the Hammers in recent years, scoring the winning goal in the UEFA Europa Conference League final.

He was arguably even more key last season as Potter’s side struggled for form and to put the ball in the back of the net.

However, Antonio jokingly claimed that he should depart so that he cannot break his goal-scoring record.

Speaking to GOAL (24 July), he said: “This is what’s annoying me about Jarrod right now. This man is 12 goals away from me.

“I’m like, bro, give me at least five years of me chilling there. Like it was there for like 20 years, and now you want to take it from me within the four? Like, what are you doing?

“I know West Ham fans will be mad I’m saying this – man (Bowen) needs to leave.”
