West Ham need Mads Hermansen transfer as personal terms update emerges
West Ham United are working on signing Leicester City goalkeeper Mads Hermansen.
The Hammers lost Lukasz Fabianski at the end of last season after his contract expired, with Alphonse Areola now the only somewhat recognised goalkeeper in E20.
Hermansen is wanted at the London Stadium, with the Irons confident of sealing a deal for the shot-stopper before the end of August.
Graham Potter could have the Leicester star at the East London club soon, and he may be the perfect addition to the English manager’s squad.

Hermansen suits Potter’s style at the London Stadium
Henry Winter believes Hermansen is just what the Hammers need as they look to bolster their team.
The journalist describes the 25-year-old as an excellent professional who suits Potter’s style of play at the London Stadium.
Winter praised the Danish national’s shot-stopping ability and good distribution as the Irons hold talks with Leicester over a deal while leading the race for his signature.
Competition | Appearances | Goals conceded | Clean sheets |
Premier League | 27 | 58 | 1 |
The journalist wrote on X (1 August): “Six Premier League clubs, plus some overseas, have shown interest in Hermansen, Leicester’s talented 25-year-old goalkeeper. West Ham in pole position (as per reports). West Ham and Leicester currently talking. Personal terms not an issue.
“Hermansen is just what West Ham need, suits a Potter team, very good shot-stopper (saved a penalty from Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, 13 saves in one game against Arsenal, denied Forest’s Nicolas Dominguez close-range, etc), good distribution and an excellent pro. Hermansen has done well for Leicester. Been loyal when he could have left before.”
Hermansen agrees personal terms with West Ham
Ex-Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has already praised Hermansen and believes he belongs on the “top shelf”.
With the Hammers leading the race for the 25-year-old, they have now agreed personal terms with him, according to Bold.
The news outlet reports (1 August) that while there’s great interest in the Dane shot-stopper, the Irons have initiated concrete talks to sign him.
It’s been claimed that there should be a positive dialogue between West Ham and Leicester, and Hermansen may soon return to the Premier League.
Premier League statistics | Areola | Hermansen |
Saves (percentage) | 82 (66.7%) | 103 (64%) |
Goals prevented | -5.19 | -0.55 |
Error led to goal | 3 | 1 |
Acted as sweeper | 10 | 14 |
High claim | 15 | 26 |
Hermansen is undoubtedly needed at the Hammers, with Areola making quite a few errors last season.
Considering the Danish goalkeeper’s impressive reflexes and ability to save shots from close range, the London Stadium faithful will arguably be delighted to have him.
Potter will definitely also like Hermansen, with the shot-stopper known to come off his lines and play as a sweeper keeper, something most modern managers look for.
