West Ham make loan decision on exit-linked Jean-Clair Todibo
West Ham have no plans to loan Jean-Clair Todibo out after triggering their obligation to buy, according to Sean Whetstone.
The Hammers insider reported via his West Ham Football account X (31 January) that the 25-year-old is part of Graham Potter’s plans at The London Stadium despite Juventus being interested in a loan deal [La Gazzetta dello Sport, 29 January].
Whetstone says West Ham have already triggered their obligation to buy the defender from Nice and will pay £26.7million (€32million) in the summer as a result of this.
Graham Potter wants Jean-Clair Todibo at West Ham
Although the campaign hasn’t been the easiest for Todibo so far, not least because of injuries, Potter is doing the right thing by keeping him where he is.
If anything, the Irons need reinforcements during the winter window rather than exits and given they are particularly short for options at centre-back, allowing one to leave the club would be a strange decision.
The Hammers are set to pay a large sum of money for the 25-year-old in the summer and with a new manager now at the helm in East London, there is an opportunity for the player to work under a different boss and prove his talent.

West Ham will have to wait until at least the middle of February for their defender to return as he works to regain fitness after suffering with a calf injury but then the future could look bright.
Any further deal would be complicated at this stage anyway and although the Italian side are pushing for a deal, Potter owes it to himself and his players to test all of his squad before making bigger changes in the summer window.
In other West Ham news, Daniel Levy is in talks for Tottenham to blow the Hammers out of the water for this player.
