West Ham make approach to sign Samuel Chukwueze after £21.7m reveal

Nuno Espirito Santo signed multiple attacking players in the most recent transfer window, as he looks to save West Ham’s season.

The arrivals of Pablo, Taty Castellanos, and Adama Traore have given the London club more options and different ways of playing this season.

The Hammers are hurtling towards relegation, but recent form has provided hope of a turnaround at E20.

Not everyone is remaining positive about their chances, with Martin Keown expecting West Ham to go down now, despite only being three points off Nottingham Forest.

If that is to be the case, that would affect their summer transfer business greatly and could stop them from finally landing long-term target Samuel Chukwueze.

West Ham keep close eye on Samuel Chukwueze

West Ham and AC Milan have had quite a bit of recent history together in the transfer market.

During the winter window, the two clubs battled for the signature of Axel Disasi, but in the end, Nuno would get his man.

Disasi impressed in his debut against Burnley on Saturday and is looking to be a great coup for the East London club already.

Additionally, the Irons sent out-of-favour striker Niclas Fullkrug on loan to the Rossoneri.

However, they could now be involved in transfer dealings again in the summer, with reports emerging about Chukwueze.

According to Fichajes, West Ham have enquired about Chukwueze but face competition from his current loan club Fulham, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Serie A club are thought to want £21.7m to £26m for the player.

The Nigerian, who is contracted with AC Milan, is playing his football at Craven Cottage this season, with his temporary switch from the Italian club having an option to buy.

That option is around that £21.7m mark, but it is not obligatory, meaning his move to the Cottagers is not set in stone, with the Irons ready to pounce if not.

Chukwueze has been a long-term target for West Ham

The Hammers have been targeting Chukwueze for quite some time, and they could finally land their man if Fulham opt to end his stint at the London club.

West Ham first tracked Chukwueze when he was at Villarreal, but he would end up going to AC Milan that summer.

A year later, West Ham looked into signing the winger again, as he fell out of the plans at the Serie A club. However, once more, they did not end up getting a deal over the line.

This season, the winger has scored three goals and got four assists in 12 appearances in the Premier League, in sporadic opportunities under Marco Silva.

He missed quite a few games due to AFCON, but when he plays, he seems to have a good impact, and that could be at West Ham from next season.
