West Ham loan deal for Evan Ferguson develops as Brighton update shared
West Ham United have now directly contacted Brighton about a potential loan move for Evan Ferguson in January, according to Alex Crook.
The talkSPORT journalist reported via the outlet’s website (2 January) that after the Hammers had contacted the Republic of Ireland international’s agents, they’ve now made their move with the Seagulls [TEAMtalk, 2 January].
The report adds that both Arsenal and Fulham are also interested in acquiring his services in the upcoming winter window.
Evan Ferguson would be ideal for West Ham United
Much like their last couple of Premier League seasons, the Hammers have suffered with having a poor focal point to lead their attack.
Niclas Fullkrug was brought in during the summer to try and break West Ham’s striker curse, but he missed a couple of months with an injury picked up during the first international break.
The German has since returned to the first-team fold and, while he has a clinical strike on him, he can’t be asked to play every game for the Hammers. That is why a loan deal for Ferguson could be ideal.

Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten would then only have to find the wages for Ferguson rather than a transfer fee for another target and would be able to send him back to the Amex Stadium at the end of the season.
Only time will tell if a move for the Brighton striker is sanctioned, but if it is, it could be a smart move from Lopetegui and Co.
