West Ham line up Troy Parrott transfer - but what does that mean for Pablo's future?

Pablo's time at West Ham United has been far from a success.

Since arriving in January 2026, the Brazilian has yet to score for the Hammers, despite 17 appearances in all competitions.

It is far from the impact you expect from a striker that had cost the Irons a total package of £20.9million.

Now, as the Championship season nears, Pablo would have been hoping to get the chance to redefine his career in London.

But it seems that may not be quite as straightforward as he would have hoped.

As West Ham look to secure the signing of striker Troy Parrott, there will be plenty of talk on what is next for Pablo.

West Ham may have already made their decision on Pablo’s future

If Parrott is brought to London Stadium, it feels hard to see where Pablo will find game time.

The Irishman is a much better goalscorer than the Brazilian, and that was proven by their numbers last season.

Parrott managed to net 31 goals across all competitions for AZ Alkmaar, while Pablo scored just 10, all of which were in Portugal.

Additionally, with Taty Castellanos still at West Ham, you would suspect the Argentine forward is ahead of the Brazilian in the pecking order.

If Pablo is looking for consistent game time, it may not be at West Ham next season and that will give the forward plenty to think about.

And that may have already been the case as back in June, Pablo was offered to Lazio by his agent Jorge Mendes.

With a striker likely to come through the doors in E20, that may signal West Ham's intent already to cut ties with Pablo.

But that is simply speculative.

The decision Nuno now faces as West Ham reshape their attacking options

While Parrott would put Pablo's minutes at threat, if keeping the Brazilian alongside signing the Irishman is the plan, then Nuno Espirito Santo may have the option of using two up top.

Utilising two centre-forwards at West Ham is not a new idea under the Portuguese manager.

Last season, both Pablo and Castellanos routinely played alongside each other, but it was the former that was deployed in a deeper second striker or number 10 role.

If Parrott is signed, Nuno could be looking to use something similar and keep rotating his three striking options throughout the campaign.

But that is a decision that he will have to mull over ahead of the upcoming season.
