West Ham United to cut their losses as Pablo offered escape route already
West Ham United could part ways with Pablo this summer, with Lazio a potential destination.
The Hammers threw everything they had at the winter transfer window in an attempt to stay in the Premier League, but failed miserably.
Taty Castellanos was a positive arrival given the impact he had, but the same cannot be said of Pablo, who has shown nothing since making the move.
It was starting to look like the Irons would be forced to live with the regret of signing the Brazilian, given the lack of impact he had in the Premier League.
However, reports from Italy suggest otherwise, with the former Gil Vicente forward potentially on his way to Castellanos' ex-club.
West Ham may not be stuck with Pablo after all
Pablo failed to score a single goal in his 17 appearances for West Ham last season, while also managing just one assist.
Given the money paid to sign him, the expectation was that he would be short of suitors in the summer, which may not actually be the case.
That is because Il Messaggero have reported that Serie A outfit Lazio have been offered the chance to sign the Brazillian.
Jorge Mendes, Pablo's agent, is said to have given the Italian side an initial proposal, but whether they accept that remains to be seen.
It's claimed that Santiago Gimenez remains their number one striker target, but should they fail in an attempt to land the Mexican international, then Pablo could be next on their list.
Pablo exit would force Hammers to own up to howler
If Pablo leaves West Ham this summer, you can almost guarantee that it will not be for a fee even close to the £22million that the Hammers were rumoured to have paid for him.
In all honesty, they'd be lucky to get even half of that.
With that said, it became very clear very quickly that his move to the London Stadium was not going to work, and this summer proivides the chance for the Irons to accept that they got it wrong and put that deal behind them.
A mistake, and an expensive one at that.
