West Ham learn outcome of Taylor Harwood-Bellis bid as swift Southampton reply expected

West Ham have made their move for Southampton defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

Nuno Espirito Santo is desperate for defensive reinforcements before the transfer window closes on 2 February, after completing several deals for forwards.

Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas claimed on 30 January that the Hammers have made a bid for the one-cap England international.

It stated that while they have not received an official reply, the London Stadium outfit knows exactly how the Saints will respond to the offer already.

How will Southampton respond to Harwood-Bellis offer?

The Championship club want to keep Harwood-Bellis around, so they are expected to instantly reject the offer that the East Londoners have made, according to Thomas.

He claimed that the bid is understood to be well below what the south coast outfit wants if they are to sell the former Manchester City man.

It states that a transfer before the deadline is considered unlikely at the current moment, and the E20 side may pivot to Axel Disasi.

David Sullivan’s negligence will haunt West Ham again

The Three Lions international would be a brilliant addition, but it seems like David Sullivan’s negligence will haunt the club again, as it has for the last few transfer windows.

Sullivan is in charge of transfers, and it was obvious that the Hammers needed to bolster their defence in the winter window, yet, they have failed to so.

The fact that they are trying so late in the market, and have bid well under what the selling club wants, is a damning indictment of his leadership.

The Irons have conceded the most goals in the division, with 45 goals allowed in 23 matches, but the businessman chose to focus on attacking additions instead, with the likes of Taty Castellanos, Pablo, Adama Traore, and Keiber Lamadrid coming into Rush Green.

That could prove to be the club’s downfall, as they sit five points from safety with 15 matches left to play, a very precarious position, which could genuinely see them relegated if they do not improve rapidly.

If they end up going down to the second tier, they clearly won’t have scored enough goals from the new attackers and the lack of defensive additions will show, and Sullivan’s business in this window will be looked at even worse.
