West Ham knocked back in approach for Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke

Bournemouth have knocked back an approach from West Ham for striker Dominic Solanke, according to the Bournemouth Daily Echo.

The news publication reported online (6 August) that the Cherries were contacted by the Hammers late last month, but are keen to hold on to the 25-year-old who signed a new four-year contract with the club last summer.

The Mirror previously reported in their live transfer blog (5 August, 11:31), that West Ham had asked about the availability of the one-time England international, and it appears they already have their answer, that he is not for sale, which will leave David Moyes once again disappointed.

Solanke has scored 56 goals as well as providing 27 assists in his 174 appearances for Bournemouth and is an important player down on the South Coast.

Frustration

Very few words can summarise just how difficult this transfer window has been for Moyes, with now yet another setback to add to the growing list. It appears that whatever the club try, it is destined to fail as they continue to await a first arrival this summer.

Supporters will be growing increasingly frustrated and concerned at the lack of transfer activity, with players apparently forming an orderly queue to exit the London Stadium, with very few queuing in the opposite direction to replace them.

Solanke would have been a smart signing to replace Gianluca Scamacca, as he is a striker with Premier League experience who is about to enter his prime years, but that is a deal that appears to have no legs.

The East London club are preparing to once again compete in the Europa League this season but after a number of departures and no incomings, it remains a mystery how they plan to balance Europe alongside domestic competitions with their current squad.

In other West Ham news, the club have made progress by agreeing on personal terms with one player, but still need to strike a deal with his club.
