West Ham in hunt to sign EFL striker with ‘huge’ potential – ExWHUEmployee
West Ham have had issues with their attack for many years as they continue to struggle for goals.
In the 2024/25 campaign, the Hammers only netted 46 Premier League goals, the third lowest outside of the bottom three.
Many of West Ham’s striker purchases in recent years have been criticised, with Niclas Fullkrug only managing three goals since his transfer from Germany last summer.
As a result, Graham Potter is looking to sign an attacker this summer, and West Ham have recently been linked with Yuri Alberto.
However, the Hammers are now looking into the English pyramid to solve their goal-scoring woes.

Wycombe striker Richard Kone on West Ham’s ‘radar’
One attacker that West Ham are looking at is Wycombe Wanderers striker Richard Kone.
The striker netted 18 goals in League One this season as the Chairboys narrowly missed out on promotion.
The 21-year-old is believed to have plenty of potential after his move to the English third tier in 2024.
Now, after a fantastic season, Kone could be in line for a sensational move to the Premier League thanks to West Ham.

Appearances | 52 |
Goals | 21 |
Assists | 5 |
Honours | League One Player of the Season x1, League One Young Player of the Season x1, League One Team of the Season x1 |
According to the ExWHUEmployee via The West Ham Way (30 May), the “promising” striker is on the Hammers’ “radar” as the summer transfer window approaches.
He said: “One club who we have worked with a lot recently and have a good relationship with is Wycombe Wanderers.
“Their forward Richard Kone is someone that is on our radar and is being considered as a forward signing.
“He has an interesting back story which is worth reading about, and has delivered many goals and top performances for the club.
“He is only 21 and has a huge amount of potential.”

Kone would be a solid back-up striker for West Ham
With money tight at the Hammers, there is no harm in looking down the divisions for an attacker.
Kone has proven he has an eye for the net and is clearly ready for the next step up.
However, the Premier League would be a big ask, and if West Ham sign the striker, he needs to be sent out on loan to the Championship first.
If this is successful, Kone could prove to be an excellent back-up forward at West Ham.
A move for the 21-year-old should definitely be considered at the Hammers as long as he isn’t brought in to be an immediate first-teamer.
