West Ham in extensive talks to sign Spartak Moscow midfielder Alex Kral
Spartak Moscow midfielder Alex Kral wants to sign for West Ham this summer to join up with Czech teammates Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal, according to The Express.
The newspaper claims that “extensive talks” have been held between the Irons and Kral’s entourage while the Hammers are also ready to pay £14million to land the 23-year-old.
While West Ham are braced for bids for Declan Rice this summer, The Express reports Kral is not seen as a replacement for the England international as the London club hunts down their first new addition of the summer.
Extra depth
This is exactly what we need.
David Moyes has proven this season that he doesn’t need to overhaul the starting line-up in order to have an impressive Premier League campaign.
While he has made additions, the Irons boss has added players in certain areas that have needed the extra quality without breaking the bank.
Kral, at £14million, could be quite pricey for a back-up to Rice but if he’s good enough, he could stamp his authority in Moyes’ starting line-up.
He’s still young at 23 and clearly he’s made a good impression in Russia with Spartak Moscow.
The tough-tackling enforcer, who plays mainly as a defensive midfielder, made 29 appearances in the Russian Premier League this season, assisting five goals in the process.
We’d definitely be happy to see him arrive as long as it’s true that he’s not coming in to replace Rice.
In other West Ham news, the Irons are likely to table an offer to sign this £135,000-a-week striker.
