West Ham hold interest in Osayi-Samuel with QPR ready to sell – report
QPR are ready to sell West Ham linked Bright Osayi-Samuel after failing to tie down the 23-year-old to a new contract, according to TEAMtalk.
The attacker’s current deal expires in the summer and the player is seemingly unwilling to commit his future to QPR.
This makes it likely that the R’s will sell Osayi-Samuel in the upcoming January transfer window so they don’t lose him for free in the summer.
TEAMtalk understand that West Ham are one of two Premier League clubs looking at signing the talented attacker who can play on both flanks.
Crystal Palace are being mooted as the other club interested in signing the 23-year-old as he looks destined to stay in London.
TEAMtalk also claim that there is interest from the Championship in the form of Swansea and Stoke but it is hard to see Osayi-Samuel turning down a Premier League move.
Osayi-Samuel has been the bright spark in a poor QPR side this season as the R’s struggle in the bottom half of the Championship table.
The 23-year-old has three goals and three assists in 20 Championship outings this season and his numbers may improve when surrounded by more capable players.
This is a deal that may suit West Ham as with Osayi-Samuel’s contract situation, he may only command a nominal fee in January.
However, the Hammers are stacked with wingers at the moment so there may have to be a departure before Osayi-Samuel or any other attacker is allowed to join.
There could also be a concern over bringing another Championship attacker to the London Stadium following Said Benrahma’s poor start to life in claret and blue.
Benrahma has failed to make an impact thus far and David Moyes won’t want another attacker who is good to watch but ultimately ineffective in the Premier League.
In other West Ham news, Frank McAvennie has made his prediction for the Hammers’ clash against Everton.
