West Ham hold ‘genuine’ interest in Joshua Zirkzee as Manchester United transfer stance emerges
West Ham have been strongly linked with a move for Joshua Zirkzee ahead of the January window.
Callum Wilson has struggled for minutes at West Ham after signing on a free transfer over the summer.
The Hammers have also gotten little out of Niclas Fullkrug, who has struggled with injury as he did in his first season at the London Stadium.
Nuno Espirito Santo will want new West Ham signings over the winter, and the striker position looks to be a prime area to rebuild.
The Irons could make the most of prior interest to sign Zirkzee as a move away from Old Trafford continues to be assessed.

Manchester United open to Joshua Zirkzee loan exit
West Ham are in the running for Zirkzee as the 24-year-old continues to struggle for regular minutes under Ruben Amorim.
The Dutchman only signed for the Red Devils last summer, but has never truly been a guaranteed starter in the Premier League.
He managed nine goal involvements in a struggling side last year, but that hasn’t helped his chances so far this campaign.
The potential to become a constant in the West Ham first-team could help give the ex-Bayern Munich youngster the boost he needs after stalling at Old Trafford.
Ben Jacobs revealed on the United Stand on 23 October that the Hammers are eyeing a move for the Dutchman, with Man United said to be open to a loan deal in January.
He said: “There is a realistic chance that Joshua Zirkzee leaves Manchester United in January, and the player’s perspective, a bit like Kobbie Mainoo, is that he wants to go out on loan to boost his chance of playing for the Netherlands in the World Cup.
“West Ham’s interest is genuine, and I can guarantee that West Ham United will add a striker in January; it’s their top priority.
“So a loan for Zirkzee would be something they would be very interested in. Talks haven’t yet started, but keep an eye on that one in the build-up to the January window opening.“
Joshua Zirkzee did have pedigree with Bologna
The 20-time Premier League champions didn’t decide to sign the versatile forward for no reason.
United’s number 11 came into the Premier League with plenty of positivity off the back of an excellent campaign at Bologna.
The Netherlands international helped Thiago Motta’s side qualify for the Champions League, having contributed to 18 goals in all competitions.

This is what West Ham should consider when deciding whether to make a move for Zirkzee as the winter window approaches.
Nuno worked wonders with Chris Wood at Nottingham Forest and could replicate that if given the chance with the Man United outcast.
