West Ham have second crack at Manuel Locatelli transfer as details emerge on January deal

West Ham could return to Juventus with another approach to sign Manuel Locatelli.

The Italian has been a target at the London Stadium over the years, with West Ham missing out on Locatelli back in 2023.

This came despite West Ham’s interest in signing Locatelli for around £35million just months after his loan deal with the Old Lady became permanent.

Two years later, the Hammers are dealing with new midfield issues, with Graham Potter struggling as James Ward-Prowse continues as a West Ham regular.

With that being said, the potential of a move for Locatelli could once again be on the table in East London as we move closer to the January window.

West Ham could now new Manuel Locatelli offer

Even with West Ham’s signing of Mateus Fernandes from Southampton, there are still concerns over the middle of the park in E20.

This has been a constant element of frustration under the management of Potter, something which could soon end with him being sacked.

Despite this, the Irons are still showing a keen interest in bringing in midfield reinforcements at the next available opportunity.

This has seen Italian outlet Tutto Juve report on 24 September, via Radio Radio, that Juventus are now open to selling Locatelli, with the 27-year-old “no longer considered untouchable”.

This has seen the Hammers reignite their interest in his signature after previously being linked with the Italy international in previous transfer windows.

That isn’t to say that the Irons would have a free run at the signing, with fellow Premier League sides Aston Villa and Wolves also ready to make offers ahead of January.

Manuel Locatelli could transform West Ham

Back in the days of Declan Rice, the claret and blue outfit had a midfield enforcer who set the standards for everyone else.

This is yet to be replicated since the record-breaking departure of the England international, but it could be done with the addition of Locatelli.

The ex-Sassuolo man has been highly rated in his time at Juventus, but is beginning to fall out of favour despite being at a peak age.

This is where West Ham could swoop in and land themselves a coup in the market in a move which could add some much-needed midfield bite at the London Stadium.
