West Ham goalkeeper Darren Randolph tipped for Championship move
West Ham goalkeeper Darren Randolph has been tipped for a potential move to the Championship by The Mirror.
The 34-year-old is third choice between the sticks for the Hammers, behind Lukasz Fabianski and Alphonse Areola.
He is yet to make an appearance in any competition this season after appearing three times in the Premier League in 2020-21.
The Mirror, who suggest Randolph is “twiddling his thumbs” at the London Stadium, state that he would be a “shrewd signing” for any Championship club given his experience in the second tier.
Happy as a Hammer?
The potential for Randolph to exit West Ham in January could come down to whether the goalkeeper is happy with his current situation at the London Stadium.
He will be fully aware that his opportunities are going to be limited, with two strong goalkeepers ahead of him in the pecking order; Areola is only on loan from Paris Saint-Germain but West Ham have an option to buy at the end of the season.
While he has not made an appearance this season, Randolph has been named on the bench in Europa League matches which is an experience he would not get elsewhere.
However, if the Republic of Ireland international is keen to play regular games – something he has not done since returning to East London in January 2020 – then a move could be tempting.
West Ham may also look to push the 34-year-old out of the door; Claret and Hugh reported in October that the club were actively looking to cash in on the goalkeeper.
In other West Ham news, Moyes has revealed his Europa League ambition ahead of this evening’s game against Rapid Vienna.
