West Ham formally bid £34.6m in order to beat the clock for last-gasp defender signing
West Ham have made an eleventh-hour attempt to sign Real Betis centre-back Natan.
Nuno Espirito Santo is expecting further movement from now until Monday’s transfer window deadline, as speculation heats up for both incomings and outgoings.
David Sullivan has already aided the Hammers in attack through signing the likes of Tatu Castellanos, Pablo, and Adama Traore.
However, all signs are now pointing towards West Ham landing a new defender in the closing stages of the window, with the Irons very interested in Natan.

West Ham submit multiple bids to Real Betis for Natan
The Hammers are also trying to seal a deal for Cheslea’s Axel Disasi, with defence clearly they key area that the Irons look to improve ahead of a fight for Premier League survival.
There were reports that West Ham submitted a loan-to-buy deal for Natan on Sunday, but further developments have cleared the situation up.
- Natan has played 20 times for Real Betis in La Liga this campaign
- He joined the club permanently in the summer for around £7.5million
According to Spanish outlet ABC.es on Monday, the Hammers have tabled up to three “formal” offers in an attempt to secure the services of Natan.
The bids were all said to be around the region of £34.6million, but all the proposals were submitted in different structures.
However, internal figures at Real Betis have turned down West Ham‘s money, and believe that Natan’s market value will increase over time; they will seek a sale in the future – if they need to.
But it looks like West Ham could instead turn their full attention to Disasi, with a medical now scheduled for the defender to come to E20 on loan.

Chelsea game showed what West Ham miss; the stats prove it
West Ham had no issue attacking against Chelsea at the weekend, as there’s an argument to say that the Hammers were unlucky not to take three points back to East London.
Crysencio Summerville now seems to be hitting top form at the right time, while Nuno’s new attackers are starting to settle in.
But the defence was once again to blame when the Irons blew a 2-0 lead at Stamford Bridge.
West Ham’s second-half stats vs Chelsea:
- Possession: 28%
- Blocks: One
- Tackles: Eight
- Interceptions: Three
Max Kilman came on in the second half, as he, Jean-Clair Todibo and Konstantinos Mavropanos were unable to keep Liam Rosenior’s side from scoring three second-half goals.
A fresh centre-half is needed, and either Disasi or Natan would be welcomed with open arms at the London Stadium.
