West Ham United transfer news as Elye Wahi bid now made at London Stadium

West Ham United have made a €35million (£29.9m) offer for Montpellier forward Elye Wahi, according to Fabrice Hawkins.

The RMC Sport journalist reported on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday [15 August] that the Irons’ offer trumps the €30m (£25.6m) previously tabled by Premier League rivals Chelsea.

Paris Saint-Germain are also said to have previously made an enquiry, while Frankfurt could themselves make a move should Randal Kolo Muani depart.

All out

West Ham know that they need at least one new attacker before the transfer window closes.

David Moyes’ side were outscored by relegated pair Leicester City and Leeds United last season, so adding goals to the side was always going to be imperative.

A number of players have been linked with the Europa Conference League winners in recent weeks, but arguably none of them are more exciting than Wahi.

That is a tally only six others could better in the French top flight last time out, yet the France U21 international seems to be available for a pretty reasonable fee.

Should the Hammers’ offer not be enough, they must ensure they quickly go back in with an improved bid to land a player destined for big things.

In other West Ham news, the Irons have reportedly already eyed up an alternative to Harry Maguire after pulling out of a move for the Manchester United defender.
