West Ham edge closer to Victor transfer as formal move made
West Ham are reportedly battling Everton, Manchester United and Galatasaray to sign John Victor from Botafogo.
The goalkeeper has impressed for the Brazilian club and a move to Europe appears to be on the cards for him this summer.
Victor, 29, joined Botafogo back in January 2024 and has since then been a first-team regular for them.

West Ham table formal £6.9m bid for Victor
According to Fabrizio Romano (1 August), the Hammers have made an initial move for the Brazilian stopper.
West Ham have been keen on Victor, but have now made their interest formal by tabling a bid for him.
It’s understood that the London Stadium outfit have offered 6.9million in order to bring him to the United Kingdom.
Everton and Galatasaray are also said to be interested in securing his services as they want to strengthen their goalkeeping ranks.
Manchester United, who have seen Andre Onana struggle between the sticks, have also kept tabs on the 29-year-old in recent months.

Graham Potter’s tactical system, emphasising fluid possession, high pressing and positional flexibility, can transform West Ham, with Victor as goalkeeper.
The English manager typically employs a 4-2-3-1 or 3-4-3, prioritising build-up play from the back.
His passing prowess, as well as his ability to play as a sweeper, is something that Potter would surely admire.
Club | Appearances | Clean Sheets |
Botafogo | 84 | 36 |
Santos | 28 | 9 |
Internacional | 14 | 5 |
Real Valladolid | 12 | 5 |
His clean sheets to appearances ratio is also pretty decent and that’s imperative as goalkeepers need to be good shot stoppers.
It’s important to sign him as soon as possible as he’ll need to adapt to the English conditions before being thrown into the starting eleven.
The Hammers moving could see other clubs also launching bids so it’s prudent to agree personal terms with the Brazilian to ensure nobody else swoops in.
